Our Story

CHAPTER · 01

A corporate chairman’s mansion.

We kept the grandeur of the mansion that once belonged to a corporate chairman. A spacious hall and unmistakably Korean atmosphere lend quiet dignity to a single bowl of kalguksu.

CHAPTER · 02

Straight from the sea.

Fresh clams delivered each morning and octopus — ‘the ginseng of the sea’ — form our broth. That is the secret behind a soup at once clean and boldly spicy.

CHAPTER · 03

K-food that wins over the world.

We share the appeal of Korean spice and tradition with every visitor to Anguk — which is why food lovers from Japan and beyond keep coming back.

They serve great clam soup noodles and a massive seafood pancake. If you like your pancake on the crispier, richer, greasy oily and more indulgent side, this is definitely the place for you! For 20,000 won, the seafood pancake comes loaded with a ton of shrimp and octopus. Even though the seafood seemed to be frozen, the massive portion size and great price make it totally worth trying. One thing to note is that this shop uses a lot of actual fresh red chilies in their dishes rather than just red chili powder, which is quite unique! Both the kimchi and the pancake had a great kick and tasted delicious. A big plus was that the restaurant wasn't too packed at night, so we were able to walk right in without waiting or needing a reservation. Definitely worth a visit!

Amazing food, but be prepared for a stressful queue! The food here is a mixed bag. The dumplings were the highlight—perfectly chewy skin and juicy filling. The clam broth was incredibly clean and generous. However, the signature noodles are only sold in a pricey double portion (28,000 won) and were overcooked to the point we couldn't finish them. The seafood pancake was tasty but quite oily. A few warnings for travelers: • The Wait: Google said "less busy," but we waited over 45 minutes. • The System: The queue sign-up is Korean only. Be careful when refreshing the page; it’s very easy to accidentally cancel your spot (which happened to us, forcing us to restart the wait). • Atmosphere: The interior was crowded and humid, unlike the photos online. Overall, while the broth and dumplings are delicious, the service is "polite but not warm," and the logistics made this our least favorite dining experience in Seoul.

The store has a very clean and well-designed layout with a modern Korean style that feels comfortable and welcoming. My friends and I arrived right at opening time and were lucky enough to get seats immediately—within just 10 minutes after we sat down, the restaurant was already full, which says a lot about its popularity. The food portions are generous, and the signature spicy octopus noodles are only available for two people or more, so it’s definitely better to come in a group and share. We also tried the non-spicy clam noodles, which were absolutely delicious—the clams were fresh, sweet, and full of flavor. If I had to rank the dishes, the seafood fried pancake would be my top pick, but the spicy octopus noodles are a must-try as well. One small regret is that we didn’t get to try the fried potato chips, but that just gives me a good reason to come back again next time!

They open at 5 pm but local people started line up and get table since 4:30, I was there at 4:50 and get a number of 18. Wait about 10mins to get my table, the food is so good, although I am only one person. I only ordered the noodle soup but I have to say it’s the best seafood noodles i had. Their popular spicy noodles are for 2-3 people, I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to have it, but I’ll definitely come back again with some friends to eat again
